Greg James completed the fourth stage of his ‘Gregathlon’ for Sports Relief in Sheffield as crowds gathered to cheer him on at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.
Accompanied by the musician Example on the 1.5km swim of the Sheffield triathlon Greg was looking tired in comparison as Example shot off from the start and powered through the water while Greg’s stroke looked slow and laborious.
However after waiting for the hero of the hour to catch up to him, both Example and Greg finished the final length together and were greeted with thunderous applause by the crowd sat in the stands.
Cheerful that he had finished his swim in under 50 minutes Greg said pointing to Example: “It’s nice to have this clown with me, good pace setter.”
Zoe Piggot and her daughter Lilly came all the way from Doncaster to Support the DJ. “We’ve followed his radio one career when he was on early breakfast right up until his drive time show”
So far he has raised £308,940 for the Sport Relief charity games which are taking place from March 18 until March 20. These will consist of 1000s of events taking place across the country in order to raise money for Sport Relief.
He has also completed triathlons in Glasgow and Cardiff this week and is set to finish the Gregathlon tomorrow in Norwich.
