Junior doctors and members of the public have protested outside Sheffield Hospitals alongside the 48 hour national  walk-out by doctors.

The doctors are striking because of new contracts imposed by the government which will increase working hours and lower wages. The doctors believe this will overwork doctors and affect patient safety.

An empty car showroom at Ecclesall Road could be turned into an upmarket gym and shopping complex in a £7m plan which might create 50 jobs.
The firm which owned the garage has put in a planning application to convert the site, which has been empty for over four years.

Sheffield is set to host the Outdoor City Challenge this coming weekend. The Magnificent Seven cycle challenge headlines the event and will begin tomorrow morning.  60 cyclists will take on Sheffield’s seven hills and will cover 19.3 miles and climb 3,232ft in total.
