Sheffield man, Ehtisham Hanif, aged 29, has been named as the man behind the wheel of the BMW involved in a crash on Snake Pass on Sunday.
Emergency services arrived on the scene after being called at around 9.50pm and Mr Hanif was rushed to Northern General Hospital in Derbyshire.
The crash also claimed the life of 18 year old Joshua Rosenberg, from Cheshire, who was pronounced dead at the scene, said Derbyshire Police.
An additional three passengers were taken to hospital and two sustained serious injuries.
Two more cars, a Vauxhall Corsa and a Volkswagen Polo, were forced to brake heavily to avoid the crash and collided.
All passengers managed to escape without injury.
The section of Snake Pass, between the Strines junction and Ladybower is open today.
The Road Safety Foundation released a report in 2013 highlighting that most of the most dangerous roads in Northern England are around the Peak District.
