A brand new Primark is coming to the city centre, situated on The Moor. It comes after plans to revamp and update the area. The intention of the redevelopment of The Moor in Sheffield will eventually link with the new Retail Quarter, nearby. The pre-existing Primark on High Street will be closing on the 27th of October and the new store will be opening the next day.
Lorna Barrett, student, said: “I’m really excited about the new Primark that’s opening. It’s much bigger than the other Primark on the High Street, it used to get so full on the weekends and the queue for the till’s would take forever.”
The new store, which is close to Debenhams will be over three floors and 80,000 square feet. Primark will be one of the key moments in the regeneration of The Moor, with a nine-screen cinema and several different restaurants opening next year.
Peter Cooper, student, said: “It’s cool to know there will be a new Primark, I never went in the other store as it was so small and quite out dated. My flatmates will be really happy to know this as they love Primark!”
The redevelopment of the Moor comes after the city’s main indoor market switched from Castle Market to the Moor three years ago.
Primark is well known as a discount retailer that offers fashionable clothes and homeware for all ages at reasonable prices. The store has become one of the most successful retailers in the UK in recent years and has expanded into Europe and the US in recent years.
