After Tuesday night’s draw against Bristol Rovers, Sheffield United begin a difficult fortnight of home games against 2nd place Scunthorpe this Saturday.
The Blades find themselves top of the Sky Bet League One and ahead of visitors Scunthorpe by 5 points, having played one more game.
The tough game this weekend is quickly followed with an opportunity for redemption against Bolton in a fortnight, who knocked United out of the 2nd round of the FA Cup this season.
Two positive results and Sheffield look likely to be set for promotion to the Sky Bet Championship, but supporter Ross Gregory is yet to start celebrating:
“We still have over 10 games left afterwards and need to take each one as it comes because there are no easy games.”
In his first season as Sheffield United manager, Chris Wilder has led the team into a strong position to head into the final part of the season.
United fan, Andrew Smith told Shef News:
“Wilder’s transfer policy is much more successful than Adkins’. He brought in players who were hungry for success in League One, Nigel brought in players who fancied a big pay cheque before retiring.
The fact that Wilder is a ‘Blade’ certainly got fans on his side straight away after a poor season.”
Wilder used January as an opportunity to add depth to the squad and the United fan identified a certain figure to be most influential:
“James Hanson. Nobody wants to play against him because of his strength and height. He’s shown signs that him and Sharp will work well together during the run in.”
The Blades will hope to gain promotion to the 2nd highest stage in the English football structure after a lay off since the 2010-11 season.
