Sheffield Wednesday hope to have up to four key player back from injury ahead of Saturday’s South Yorkshire derby against Barnsley.

The Owls have been on the receiving end of a mounting injury list, losing key players Fernando Forestieri, Sam Hutchinson Gary Hooper, Sam Wallace and Kieran Lee to the treatment table.

Last week’s international break offered some players the opportunity to recover following the injuries which have piled up since January.

Manager Carlos Carvalhal will be delighted to have a stronger squad for the weekend’s visit to Oakwell in what could prove to be a crucial match as the Owls push for promotion.

Wednesday currently occupy the last play-off spot with in-form Fulham breathing down their necks just one point behind.

The game kicks off at 12:30 on Saturday and South Yorkshire Police have assured the public that there will be an increased police presence for the match given the tension of a local derby.

The Owls have sold out their away allocation with 5,000 Wednesdayites making the short trip to Oakwell.
