A man has been charged with the murders of a University of Sheffield graduate and his fiancée in Boston, USA.
Dr Richard Field, 49, and Dr Lina Bolanos, 38, who both worked as anaesthesiologists, were found tied up with their throats slit inside their high-rise apartment on Friday evening.
Police arrested Bampumim Teixeria, 30, for the murders. His lawyer has entered a not guilty plea.
The University of Sheffield confirmed that Dr Field graduated from the medical school in 1999.
Dr Field worked at North Shore Pain management and Dr Bolanos was a paediatric anaesthesiologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
North Shore Pain Management released a statement saying “Dr Field was a guiding vision at North Shore Pain Management and was instrumental in the creation of the practice, in 2010.”
“His tragic and sudden passing leaves an inescapable void in all of us. Our deepest thoughts are with his friends and family.”
A spokesperson from the University of Sheffield said: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of our alumnus. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
