Sheffield Wednesday V Huddersfield Preview

11 May 2017

Sheffield Wednesday will have one eye on the play-off final when they come up against Huddersfield on Sunday in the first leg of the play-off semi finals.

Almost a year after losing the play-off final to Hull City, the Owls will be eager to get into the final and earn promotion to the Premier League. The first leg will be played at Huddersfield’s  John Smith’s Stadium, with the reverse fixture played at Hillsborough on Wednesday.

The Owls head into the game on a good run of form although they did lose last time out to Fulham at home in the Championship.  Wednesday had won six in a row before facing Fulham, and this should give the Sheffield outfit a lot of confidence heading into the play-off semi finals.

Huddersfield got off to a flying start to the season proving themselves to be the Championship’s surprise package of the 2016/17 season. Their form, however, has dipped as of late having mustered only 3 wins in their last 10 Championship games. This will no doubt encourage both Wednesday fans and players as they attempt to reach their second play-off final in two years.

Football fans have been very vocal on what they believe will happen in the first leg. Mark, a self proclaimed massive Wednesday fan, said:

However, some fans believe Huddersfield will be victorious. Alex on twitter believes it will be between Huddersfield and Fulham:

The Championship play-off final will be played on the 29th of May at Wembley Stadium and the Owls will be desperate for a second chance at glory.
