Sheffield Futures is an independent and lead youth charity in Sheffield that supports and provide opportunities to both adults and young people especially in a number of ways.
Elliot Walker, volunteer officer and community fundraiser hope to provide enough opportunities for them to fulfil their true ambitions and most importantly to meet all their goals they can in life.
They will be holding a Youth Work Causal Bank recruitment day on May 17 from 12pm to 7pm. It is an open day where anyone who is interested and committed in working with young people with a true passion with youth work are welcomed to come on the day to know more about their organisation.
Sheffield Futures is hoping to recruit a group of staffs who could help out with their youth clubs and to provide youth information advises and counselling services to young people which will take place at Star House. They would like to employ a group of people who are available on a casual basis who to fill those roles. Anyone are allowed to attend and find out about the charity of specific roles and to fill in the application form and if they are successful they will be informed for an assessment day.
Sheffield Future runs over 49 different activities a week in a community youth team so they have a lot of different youth clubs that open every week for couple of hours usually 6 to 8 hours which young people aged 13 to 18 can attend. Weekly jobs workshop is open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for adults to get career advices and same service also run on Thursday and Friday for young people. Throughout the workshops, the staffs try to deliver personal development through mentoring and specialist skills and run enrichment activities for young people e.g. ice skating and film making to build their confident and social skills.
With the mental health awareness week, Walker expressed him and his colleagues went to a wellbeing walk to help raise awareness for mental health. He explained Sheffield Future has been posting everyday on their social medias to help raise awareness this week by sharing stress relieving tips and believe their charity has been participating as much to share awareness for mental health.
