Publishing House will launch new Book Prize in Sheffield

Prestigious publishing house And Other Stories will launch the Northern Book Prize in partnership with New Writing North on 19 October.

It will be included in the Northern Writers’ Awards to be held in Newcastle in June 2018.

The event is part of the Off The Shelf literary Festival taking place in October in the city and will take place at DINA, Cambridge St, 9pm on Saturday.

The Awards are supported by Arts Council England and Northumbria University and are open to anyone based in the North of England.

Stefan Tobler, founder of And Other Stories, said: “Sheffield has such rich cultural heritage, and there is an enormous amount happening in the arts. We hope to complement this with own unique approach to publishing fiction”.

The Awards open for submissions on 16 November and close on 1 February 2018.

And Other Stories plans to publish and launch the winner in the 2018 edition of the Festival.

In addition to the editorial support the awarded writer will receive a sum of £5,000.

In the event And Other Stories writer Joanna Walsh will be presenting her latest short story collection Worlds From The Word’s End.
