Ladies night to raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital

19 October 2017

The Hillsborough Club will be hosting a ladies night next month in a bid to raise money for the Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital.

The event has been described as the “ultimate ladies night out” with a disco, strippers and raffles galore, with all proceeds going to the hospital.

The night is being organised by Sheffield resident, Autumn Hague, who has links with the hospital through her grandmother Beryl Owen.

Beryl currently works in the Friends of Children’s Hospital Toy Shop.

The Friends are a group of volunteers who raise money to support their patients.

Together they run a shop located inside the hospital selling toys and gifts whilst also holding annual events all year round in order to raise money for toys and other specialist teaching materials.

All of the volunteers do a wonderful job in aid of the hospital, but they say Beryl in particular goes the extra mile.

She holds stalls locally and collect further donations from across the country including children’s books, toys and blankets.

Many ladies in Sheffield have a connection with the Children’s Hospital one way or another, either with their own children or other friends and family.

Autumn said: “We want to give something back to the ladies, so they can have a giggle, let their hair down and have a great night, but raise money for the charity at the same time.”

Autumn is hoping to raise £1500 for the Friends charity of the Children’s Hospital, and anything made above that figure will go to another area within the Children’s Hospital.

Aside from the strippers, another big event on the night will be the raffle draw.

A selection of the prizes include a weekend stay in Derbyshire, sports club tickets, and beauty treatments, with other prizes coming from local business in Broomhill and Hillsborough

Jane Kelsey, of Broomhill, has approached all of the shops in the area asking them to donate something for the raffle and nowhere has turned her down.

Mrs Kelsey said: “Children’s Hospital is somewhere I hold close to my heart and I’m always trying to give something back to the hospital.”

The ladies night itself is at Hillsborough Club on the 10th November at 7:30pm.
