Prue Leith, 2017’s Great British Bake Off judge, accidentally leaked this year’s winner of the show this morning via her Twitter account.
The tweet was quickly deleted, and she gave her sincerest apologies to fans of the show saying that she was “in a different time zone, and mortified by her error”.
Twitter users this morning have expressed their opinions on the unfortunate mess-up.
Prue was actually the best thing about new Bake Off. A real pity that she was the one to open the oven before the soufflé was done. #GBBO

After it’s move to Channel 4, Bake Off views only reached around 6.5 million views for episode one, compared to 10.4 million views for the previous year.
However, despite its drop in views, Bake-Off remained the most watched show in five years since London’s Paralympic Opening Ceremony, according to the press office.
The final of the Great British Bake Off will be aired tonight at 8pm on Channel 4, where the winner will be revealed (if you have managed to stay clear of the spoilers!)
