Police appeal for witnesses after Sheffield rape

South Yorkshire Police are looking for anyone with information about the alleged rape of a woman this weekend in Sheffield.

It is said that in the early hours of Saturday 4 November, a woman made her way to an address on Cuthbert Bank Road following a night out with friends.

An unknown man is believed to have initially approached her, before he followed her into the building and raped her.

Information gathered by the police so far suggests that the man was in the property for about 35 minutes, arriving at about 4.20am and leaving at 4.50pm.

South Yorkshire Police are currently investigating at the scene, and are going through CCTV footage to try and discover the movements of the victim and suspects.

Detective Sergeant Stafford Megson from the Force Crime Unit said: “We understand this incident will cause a great deal of concern in the community and want to reassure everyone that we are taking this matter very seriously.

“Our victim is receiving support from officers and detectives are progressing a number of lines of enquiry.

“We are hoping to trace the man pictured in this CCTV image, as it’s thought he could hold vital information.

“I appreciate that this incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning, but if anyone living locally heard or saw anything suspicious at the times mentioned or prior to the woman arriving on Cuthbert Bank Road, I’d urge them to contact police.”
