Burst pipe causing public transport chaos in Hillsborough

A burst water main in Hillsborough has caused severe congestion on Middlewood Road this morning.

Emergency repairs are being carried out by Yorkshire Water on Catch Bar Lane and Leppings Lane next to Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium.

In a series of tweets, the company said that work had been done overnight and warned that more work is scheduled:

Supertram operators Stagecoach have advised that some of their services are delayed by up to 30 minutes as a result of the works, particularly the Hillsborough yellow line.

This is in addition to delays caused by an incident earlier this morning where a passenger fell ill at the City Hall stop and an ambulance was called.
