A dozen single people met in Sheffield Revolution on Tuesday for five-minute speed dates.
In the dimly lit, intimate setting of the bar, a dozen single people met each other in five-minute intervals on Tuesday night.
National speed dating company Speed Dater hosted its Sheffield event for 38 to 50 year olds at Revolution on 12 February 2019.
Steff Balfour, 22, hosting the event, said: “It’s just for people to have fun, get out and meet new people. It’s a really great way of coming out of your shell and perhaps meeting people you wouldn’t normally meet.”
This idea of ‘getting out there’ is not always as simple a task as advertised. Justin Puddifat, 42, builder from Hunter’s Bar, found his first speed dating event rather uncomfortable.
“My wife passed away a few years ago, so it’s a big thing for me to try to get out there again,” he said.
Miss Balfour said that speed daters’ specific age ranges for their events mean that people are more likely to find what they are looking for and the speed dating format makes the experience as low pressure as possible.
