Sheffield florist wins entrepreneur award

Karon Breckon, owner of Meadowhead Flowers has been nationally recognised by E2Exchange as start-up entrepreneur to watch out for.

She said: “I was in complete shock. I’m fairly new to business. It’s not that I feel that my stuff isn’t good enough, but I just feel that I should be aspiring higher.”

Ms Breton started selling plants outside The Moor while training in Tallulah Rose Flower School in Bath.

Her shop opened in The Moor on 31 March 2016.

She said: “The award has helped me massively already with the recognition.

“It just shows that we’re in here and that we are a credible business.”

She hopes that this opportunity will open doors for her company to provide flowers for corporate businesses.

The Sheffield florist is particularly passionate about British flowers and working with Sheffield suppliers.

The flower shop was also recognised regionally as Market Trader Winner 2018 of The Star’s #Shopsheffield award.

Ms Breton, a former Physical Education teacher, said: “Being a PE teacher I thought had very transferable skills. I also taught gymnastics and dance.

“It’s all kind of part of the creative side of the job. I’ve just always been a creative person.”
