Local butchers ‘chuffed’ to be nominated for award

A local butchers have been shortlisted for food producer of the year in the Made in Yorkshire awards.

Moss Valley Fine Meats supply half of the restaurants in Sheffield with pork and are “chuffed” to be nominated.

Stephen Tompson, owner of Moss Valley Fine Meats said: “We are taking on the whole of Yorkshire and are pleased to be representing Sheffield food.”

Last year the company won Made in Sheffield’s food producer of the year and say they pride themselves on their quality service and meat.

Mr Tompson said: “We are so proud of being local and part of the local community.”

He added: “Were always looking to go that step further than your average company.”

The company breeds their own pigs on their farm in Moss Valley and produces pork, bacon, ham and sausages.

The family run business has farmed in North East Derbyshire for a hundred years.

The seventh annual awards takes place this evening in Leeds and will celebrate companies across Yorkshire.
