Ian Lawlor will remain at Doncaster Rovers for the next two seasons, despite suffering a shoulder injury in January.
The goalkeeper’s contract was due to expire this summer, but he will now stay until 2021.
Mr Lawlor said: “It’s been a difficult one because I thought I was performing well and then I got hit with a bad injury.
“I’m delighted I can now look forward to the next two years.
“Since the day I walked through the doors of the club everyone’s been really welcoming, so its pleasing that the club want me here for another two years.”
Lawlor’s season finished in January due to a shoulder injury, but it was his performance during the rest of the season that secured his new contract.
The 24-year-old transferred from Manchester City in 2017 and has made 75 appearances since then.
The Rovers expect to be able to announce new deals soon.
