Sheffield United, will take on Preston North End on Saturday to fight for promotion.
Sheffield United and Leeds United, third and second in the table, are competing for the divisions’ second automatic promotion place.
Unusually, the promotion deciding matches will take place on consecutive weekends at alternating venues.
Sheffield play Preston and Leeds play Birmingham on Saturday and the following weekend Sheffield will face Birmingham and Leeds, Preston.
Despite Sheffield’s 1-0 victory over Leeds in March, the matches are too close to call and while the upcoming week will be gruelling for both teams, it should boast some exciting football.
The two opposition teams, although lower down the table should still provide good competition having gained good results all season, particularly Preston who are currently ranked 10th.
The Preston side will face Sheffield United lacking four players due to injury. However the club announced that two formerly injured players will make a comeback on Saturday.
Sheffield face the side away but will be accompanied by many hopeful fans. One fan, Mark Bradbery, 44, a business owner from Sheffield said: “We need to keep our spirits up and have hope but not get complacent, I have every faith in the boys.”
