A new festival celebrated the thriving digital business successes across the city this week.
Dan Kirby, the co-founder and CEO of Techdept, held a fringe event for Sheffield Digital Festival this morning to talk about mental health and how to get ahead in digital without burning out.
Mr Kirby said: “We joined Digital Festival because it is very important to be part of what is going on, as a digital company, and we like to give back to the community. The idea of Digital Festival is fantastic and been needed in Sheffield. For all the companies that in the city to be able to get together, to talk and share ideas.
“Sheffield has got lots of people doing lots of amazing things but they don’t necessarily connect to each other. I think we are guilty, as a company we get very busy doing the day job, so perhaps being in touch with everybody else around you is not as much as priority. The digital festival provided a platform for the city to show off its amazing digital culture and community, it is really a good thing.”
The last Getahead Festival, which is a not-for-profit festival with a 25-year plan to positively impact a billion people, attracted over one thousand people to attend. The next festival in 2019 will be back on 14 June, from 6am-6am.
