Sheffield Hallam University raise £10,000 in cycle fundraiser for Ukraine

17 March 2022

Students at Sheffield Hallam University have been cycling the distance from Sheffield Hallam Campus to Ukraine this week, to raise money for those affected by the invasion of Ukraine.

The fundraiser, which has been running since Monday, has brought teachers and students together to cycle over 1,000 miles in four days.

Cycling throughout the day, as of Thursday afternoon, over 70 people have covered 1883km and have raised £10,429 beating their original target of £7,500.

On Thursday, they reached the Ukraine border, a milestone greeted with celebrations by those involved.

The cycle has taken place within their heart of campus, where ribbon pins and cakes have also been on sale.

The money raised will go to the DEC Ukraine Appeal
