The city council has encouraged Sheffielders to give skateboarding a go in a bid to promote the adrenalin-inducing activity.
There are about 10 indoor and outdoor skate parks in Sheffield, including the House Skate Park in Bardwell Road.
The skateboard community has seen an increased number of female skateboarders who have taken up the sport.
Those who have been going along to House Skate Park range from five to 60, and can hire equipment to take part in a lesson.
Rob Bannister, owner of House Skate Park Sheffield, said: “Myself and all the staff here are skateboarders.
“Our aim is to try and get people through initial learning curve without injuries. We promote skateboarding by organising events and competitions.”
