WATCH: Sheffield boxing club offer sessions to try and promote discussion about mental health

28 April 2022

A not-for-profit organisation, Mental Mate, are running boxing sessions to encourage people to open up and talk about their mental health.

The idea came after organiser Dan Barton suffered with his own mental health and used boxing as a way of coping.

After re-opening after COVID, they have seen their number of attendees increase significantly.

They charge £5 per session on a Sunday which allows them to offer the free session on a Wednesday.

For equipment they rely purely on funding and donations.

More information on the sessions can be found on their website or Twitter and Instagram pages.
