WATCH: Sheffield protest against conversion therapy amidst plans to exclude trans people from ban

5 May 2022

Last weekend saw a protest against conversion therapy take place outside Sheffield town hall.

Many gathered in support of the campaign, amidst the government’s recent plans to ban conversion therapy for gay, lesbian and bisexual people – but not transgender people.

The protest lasted for two hours and featured guest speakers talking about their personal experiences with conversion therapy and being a transgender person.

The speakers included local members of parliament who promised to make a change and help trans rights by highlighting the brutality of conversion therapy to the government.

Campaigners were in full force on the day, waving banners and signs they had made at home as well as chanting to unite everyone with the LGBTQ+ community.
